Established in 2003, SU is located in Luang Prabang, a city 300 km north from the capital Vientiane and renowned for its well preserved architectural, religious and cultural heritage. The university provides education to rural youth who would not otherwise have access to HE. Its student population consists of 3534 national and 28 international undergraduates who are distributed in the two SU campuses. SU has 98 administrative staff and 305 academic staff, responsible for teaching and conducting academic research. SU main research activities are focused on Sustainable Tourism Studies, including the Feasibility on the potential of Eco-tourism in Luang Prabang.
