SKU Prepares for RESET ToT2 and Management Meeting 3
Savannakhet University readies its team for the second Training of Trainers and the third Management Meeting at the University of Health Sciences, Vientiane
Savannakhet, Lao PDR – 6 November 2026
The RESET team at Savannakhet University (SKU) has started preparing for the project's next milestone: the second Training of Trainers (ToT2) and the third Management Meeting (MM3). Both events will be hosted by the University of Health Sciences (UHS) in Vientiane from 17 to 20 November 2026.
Coordinated by Champasack University (CU) and co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, RESET – Redefining Research Management Structures and Research Career Development to Accelerate Green Growth in Lao PDR helps Lao higher education institutions modernise how they manage research and support the careers of their researchers.
Reviewing the programme together

On 6 November, SKU's RESET team met on campus to review the full ToT2 and MM3 agenda. The team discussed each session, agreed on SKU's contributions and set out the remaining preparation tasks before travelling to Vientiane.
Four days, from project review to institutional action plans
The programme opens on 17 November with the third Management Meeting. Partners will review progress from August to October 2026 across all work packages, covering project management and quality assurance, benchmarking and good practices, training, research management units, equipment, the National Research Hub and Online Research Academy, and national policy.

From 18 to 20 November, the second Training of Trainers, facilitated by Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg (ALU), will guide each Lao partner through three practical steps:
- Approach and diagnosis: treating research management as a strategic function and mapping the strengths, gaps and bottlenecks of each university's own research management system.
- Design: building a shared vision and strategic objectives, then turning them into core functions, services and governance models for a possible research management centre.
- Implementation and multiplication: analysing stakeholders and conditions for change, drafting an implementation roadmap and an institutional action plan, and preparing participants to share what they learn within their own institutions.
SKU's role in dissemination
As leader of Work Package 9 – Dissemination and Exploitation, SKU will present a report on the project's dissemination activities from January to October 2026. The team will also present the upcoming dissemination plan and institutional outreach campaign, and open the discussion on preparing RESET's sustainability plan.
Looking ahead
ToT2 and MM3 move RESET from analysis to action. Each partner university will leave Vientiane with a draft plan for strengthening its research management system, along with the skills to take that work forward at home. Together, these steps support stronger research careers and research that serves Green Growth in Lao PDR.
