About RESET

RESET project aims to directly address the capacity-building needs of Laotian Higher Education Institutions by contributing to the modernisation of research management structures and the establishment of sustainable career development paths for researchers working in priority areas that support green growth in Lao PDR.

RESET will tackle structural and systemic barriers that have historically limited the development of high-quality research and sustainable research careers in Lao PDR, particularly within Lao Higher Education Institutions and their research management units, as well as among researchers working in priority areas linked to Green Growth.

The project will strengthen the capacity of researchers and technical staff by providing targeted training, relevant skill sets, innovative tools and support services, while modernising research management structures and strategies at institutional level. In parallel, RESET will foster the development of a national policy framework to promote clear and sustainable research career pathways.

The National Research Hub is the heart of RESET. This hub will not only allow to quantify the critical mass of skilled researchers in Lao PDR, but to provide training for researchers at all career stages as well as strengthen collaboration among them.

The main expected results will be achieved through the sharing of good practices, transfer of expertise, and capacity-building activities, as well as through enhanced cooperation between higher education institutions, public authorities and the wider research and innovation ecosystem. The production and dissemination of publishable outputs will provide reference materials for Lao HEIs and ensure the long-term impact and replicability of the project outcomes, contributing to the advancement of research in priority areas for Green Growth in Lao PDR.

RESET presents a unique approach based on the following principles:

Fostering an open policy dialogue about research career development paths in Lao PDR, with specific focus on areas helping to accelerate Green Growth in Lao PDR.

Understanding the project from a Human centered perspective, which implies designing training courses, resources and support services prioritizing the needs and preferences of all stage researchers, as well as the university staff that foster and support research in Lao HEIs.

Putting strong emphasis on virtual platforms and online learning content and courses, making all training resources easily accessible to all stage researchers.
