In a bid to catalyse pivotal changes in the field of research, higher education institutions in Laos have entered into a collaborative partnership under the “Redefining Research Management Structures and Research Career Development to Accelerate Green Growth in Laos” project (RESET).

The initiative aims to modernise the research landscape and foster academic innovation across Laos’ educational framework. The RESET project is co- funded by the European Commission through the Erasmus+ Programme.

The scheme aims to modernise research management structures at higher education institutions while promoting sustainable career development for researchers working in areas connected to green growth. 

It aims to empower researchers with relevant training, skill sets, innovative resources and supporting services, and modernize research management units and strategies in higher education institutions. 

Under the programme, policy frameworks will be developed to foster research career development pahts in areas related to green growth. 

The RESET project partners include five universities and departments of the Ministry of Education and Sports, including Champasak University, National University of Laos, Souphanouvong University, Savannakhet University, University of Health Sciences, and the Department of Higher Education. 

The European partners are the University of Alicante (UA) in Spain, Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg (ALU) in Germany, and CESIE ETS in Italy. 

The project was officially launched at Champasack University at the beginning of March and will run for four years until the end of 2029. 

It marks a pivotal milestone in strategic operational planning and the establishment of collaborative partnerships between higher education institutions in Laos and their international counterparts. 

With financial support from the European Commission through the Erasmus+ Programme, and under the technical guidance and leadership of the Ministry of Education and Sports, the RESET project is now fully operational and ready to roll out its scheduled activities.
